SUMMARY:Bonsai Show
DESCRIPTION:The Buffalo Bonsai Society and the Botanical Gardens proudly present the return of the annual Bonsai Show. Meet with members of the Bonsai Society and learn about their craft as they display amazing bonsai specimens from their personal collections. Watch trimming and shaping demonstrations on live trees throughout the show. Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase sculpted bonsai trees and plants\, starter plants\, accent plants and pots\, as well as a raffle for the chance to win bonsai baskets and merchandise. Bonsai demonstrations will be held at 11am and 1pm. \nThe Buffalo Bonsai Society was established in 1965 to promote the study of bonsai in Western New York. Bonsai is a living art form which enables the hobbyist to transform conventional trees into a harmonious miniature representation of a mature tree in a small container. Since it involves a growing tree\, the design is forever changing and evolving. Some of the techniques used to achieve this miniaturization and styling involve the pruning of roots and branches\, defoliation of leaves and wiring the tree and its branches. \nFor more information about the Bonsai Show\, please contact connect@buffalogardens.com.

SUMMARY:Annual Liverpool Bonsai Show
DESCRIPTION:Bonsai is a Japanese art form that involves growing and training miniature trees in containers\, mimicking the shape and scale of full-sized trees in nature. The goal of Bonsai stewardship is not to create a genetically small tree but to maintain a normal tree species in miniature form through pruning and training. Bonsai also emphasizes natural beauty\, asymmetry\, and harmony between the tree and its pot. \nBonsai Club of Central New York will have their amazing plants on display and answer your questions.
