Hop Harvest Festival: Bines & Vines

August 30, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Hop Festival

Celebrate all things hops and grapes!

Trace the path of hops and grapes — from field to fermenter, pie tin to pint glass.

Tour of one of the only working 19th-century breweries in the United States, join in on the harvest and help our costumed interpreters in the Hop Yard, stop in historic kitchens to smell 19th-century food recipes cooking with ale and yeast, learn about our historic vineyard from our knowledgeable historic gardeners, and enjoy live music, German Dancing, food, and beverage tastings from local breweries and wineries.

Did you know that GCV&M is one of the only museums in the US with a working 19th-century brewery? Take a tour through all 3 levels of our brewery and learn how in 1850, New York State became a leading producer of hops.

Meet the ‘Bines’

Help our costumed interpreters pick the hops for drying – it takes a village after all! Then head to Jones Farm to learn about how cooks would mass feed harvesters, check out dying with hops at Keiffer House and ALL NEW this year – explore the inside of the refurbished Hop House!

Meet the ‘Vines’

Behind our MacArthur House is our Historic Vineyard! Explore the different varietals that we plant here, and meet with our Historic Gardeners who make it all happen! Head to the Apothecary to learn about wine as medicine and more!

ALL NEW WALKING TOUR! Vines and Virtue: Exploring the intertwined stories of wine production, immigrants, faith, and folly. From Irish canal diggers to Know Nothingism, temperance to Finger Lakes vineyards, immerse yourself in this compelling story of resilience and cultivation.

Sample local craft beverages!

Enjoy live music and sample GCV&M’s historical craft beers on tap, and tastings from local craft breweries, meaderies, and cideries!
